Southwest Airlines Mobile Boarding Pass – How it Works?
Southwest Airlines has launched the use of its Mobile Boarding Pass which is an electronic document enabling customers to pass through security quickly and board the aircraft by simply using their mobile devices. The mobile boarding passes are readily available at all the US airports Southwest serves. These passes are not available for the customers travelling on the international flights.
How does a Southwest Mobile Boarding Pass Works?
It is easy to use mobile boarding pass-
- You must check-in your flight at least an hour before the scheduled departure.
- Click on the ‘Boarding Pass’ button to get the boarding pass preview.
- Save the boarding pass on your device.
- You can present the saved mobile pass at security checkpoints during the boarding.
How to Receive your Mobile Boarding Pass?
After you have checked in for your flight, tap on the Boarding Pass button and check the boarding pass preview. From there, the boarding pass can be saved either on Google Pay or Apple Wallet. The boarding pass can then be retrieved after checking in by simply tapping on the Boarding Pass button on your trip card or in the trip details.
Saving Mobile Boarding Pass
You should ensure that you have saved your mobile boarding pass on your phone for easy accessibility during your travel and at a time when you don’t have access to the internet.
Save Southwest Mobile Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet on iOS
Ensure that your iPhone has iOS version 8 or above so that you can easily check in and save the boarding pass in your Apple Wallet directly from the mobile app or website. When you are viewing it on the Apple Appstore, tap on the button – ‘Add to Apple Wallet’. This displays your boarding pass. Then tap on ‘Add’ in the top0right corner of the screen to save boarding pass to the Apple Wallet. To save the pass from email attachments, open the attachment and follow the same steps as followed above. Make sure you save mobile boarding pass individually as a Wallet pass for the flight check-in.
Save Southwest Mobile Boarding Pass on Android
The android phone users should have at least version 6.0 or above installed on their smartphone for saving the boarding pass directly to Google Pay from the app. When you are viewing the boarding pass on the app, tap on ‘Save to Phone’ button on the top of the page. A user must confirm saving the pass to Google Pay. The app users and mobile website users can save the pass to photo gallery by tapping on camera icon on the top right-hand corner of the screen.
